Programme Overview
The Catchment Excellence Training Programme has been developed by the Sustainable Enterprise Skillnet and Water Stewardship Ireland in collaboration with the Rivers Trust, Macra Agricultural Skillnet and other industry members to give large water users a mechanism to underpin stakeholder engagement and provide a practical catalyst for longer term partnerships in the river basins in which they operate.
The programme includes action learning sets and instructor-led training & activities and field trips to river basins and catchments, giving participants the opportunity to experience applied community projects that aim to protect and enhance local rivers and catchment. It facilitates organisations to showcase the work they do to support local catchments to become more sustainable.
Who is this Programme for?
This programme is designed for organisations that wish to engage with stakeholders in their local catchments using a mechanism that can deliver a powerful and practical catalyst for longer term partnerships in the river basins in which they operate. The programme gives participants the opportunity to become Water Stewardship Ambassadors, bringing their knowledge of the water environment both to their businesses and their local community.
Learning Outcomes
The Catchment Excellence Programme is delivered over 12 weeks as a blended training programme consisting of online workshops and in-person sessions, reflecting an innovative way of learning that is engaging and flexible. This 50% funded programme is comprised of a series of Online Modules, Live Workshops, Field Trips and hands-on practical projects. The programme format encourages collaboration between organisations and local stakeholder in their catchment, in an environment that is conducive to learning, relationship building and mobilisation of actions that contribute to better water quality.
